The Team
There are 10 experienced professionals - Architects, Site Engineers, CAD operators and support staff, assisting our Design Principlas, in addition to our BIM unit in Cairo, B/L Overseas Engineering Solutions, with an additional 14 experienced staff with Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing disciplines of BIM engineers.
Principal Architect
Principal Architect - Marwan Lockman, is the founder and director of S/L Architects. His portfolio boasts a variety of impressive and successfully completed projects that vary in nature. He combines an intuitive understanding of the region, it’s topography and climate, with design principles that aim to allow buildings to compliment and coexist with the nature of their proposed surroundings in an organic manner that combines respect for local climate, location, traditions and cultures with a contemporary vision to further the vernacular into a new era of evolution.
Interior Architect
Interior Architect - Gareth Thomas, Gareth has extensive experience over the past 25 years as concept developer and creative director in a wide variety of commercial sectors from retail through to banking, hotels,F&B and outside events and exhibitions. With this specialist knowledge.
Gareth Thomas brings a unique and blended approach to environmental design ,which encompasses the latest technological advances to apply different elements from a variety of design disciplines.
His empathy and understanding of the concepts required, enables clients to realise their projects and encompass new ideas and forward thinking solutions. His design approach is informed by a broad spectrum of influences, from fine art to fashion, from new materials and technology to landscape and nature. It is this approach which has resulted in many successful projects being implemented both here and internationally.
Gareth has worked in the Middle East for the past 15 years in Bahrain, Doha, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Dubai, and prior to that, headed up projects in the UK and Europe for Blue Chip Clients; having the business acumen to understand the commercial reality behind key design decisions.
